TestsChecker
TestsChecker is a leading OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) software for processing tests, surveys and votes. It recognises marks, check boxes and barcodes on paper forms.
The program automatically extracts data from scanned forms or answer sheets. Processing includes basic evaluation of the data, with rich export options for further analysis. Forms can be created in an ordinary word processor and printed on a standard printer.
Clear and modern

Barcodes
The program can recognise barcodes, which can be used, for example, to identify a particular form or respondent.
Continuous form recognition
TestsChecker is used to process large numbers of answer sheets.
The new TestsChecker Droid component runs continuously over a selected folder and recognises new forms as they arrive.
Customisable
The program offers many detailed settings for how answer sheets are evaluated. Most values are preset based on our many years of experience.
A built-in scripting language is available for modifying functions or adding new ones.
Testing
The program can evaluate and score tests directly, with a choice of several scoring schemes.
It supports questions where several answers can be selected at once (multiple choice questions).
Reliable and fast
The program recognises forms with very high reliability and is used, for example, for certification and entrance examinations. Its high performance allows large volumes of forms to be processed in minutes: on an ordinary computer it recognises 700 pages per minute.

Schools
Primary and secondary schools, and especially universities, increasingly choose automatic test evaluation, mainly for entrance examinations but also for tests during the continuous assessment of students. Tests evaluated this way yield results in a very short time and with a high degree of reliability.
Public surveys
Public surveys of all kinds collect large volumes of response forms. The old method of retyping the response forms into a computer by hand is time-consuming and error-prone. Computer-based data extraction is today practically the only sensible way to handle such a task successfully.
Restaurants and hotels
Restaurants, and hotels in particular, often ask guests to fill in satisfaction questionnaires. With larger volumes it pays to extract the data automatically and gain an overall view of guest satisfaction over a given period, and to follow the trend. This gives excellent feedback on innovations introduced in the establishment and a measure of their success.
How it works
Forms are processed in a few easy steps:
- Design the template for the answer sheet in TestsChecker Editor and print the sheets.
- Scan the filled-in paper answer sheets.
- TestsChecker (or TestsChecker Droid for continuous processing) recognises and evaluates the scanned sheets automatically.
- Correct any problematic sheets by hand in TestsChecker.
- Export the extracted data to an output file for further analysis.

TestsChecker has been in use and under continuous improvement since 1998. It stands out for its high reliability and is used in education, medicine and other fields where paper forms are processed and evaluated.
The program is used by more than 100 secondary schools for processing entrance examinations, by several universities in the Czech Republic and by other educational organisations such as Scio.
In medicine and pharmacy the program is used to convert questionnaires into electronic form, which enables subsequent statistical evaluation of the studies carried out.
Scio, a company focused mainly on measuring and evaluating educational outcomes, has been active in Czech education since 1996. It uses TestsChecker to evaluate all types of tests and questionnaires. The program’s high reliability allows it to be used even for the National Comparative Exams and other comparative examinations.
